The Senior Pipeline Engineer D&R is a key team member of the COP Chapter within the NAM/ONEgas West agile organisation seconded to the Decommissioning and Restauration Hub. Responsibilities Providing Pipeline engineering technical and execution leadership to NAM’s Decommissioning and Restoration (D&R) Projects Predominantly Offshore. The scope of work also includes onshore D&R support on as required basis.
These activities include:
• Responsible for review and assurance of pipeline comparative assessments delivered by the appointed contractor for submission to the Authorities.
• Responsible for coordinating pipeline cleaning strategy and execution
• Define as required Pipelines Standard Workflows for offshore D&R to ensure “doing the work right first time right”.
• Close collaboration with D&R project leads and integration with other technical disciplines supporting D&R projects.
• Support with the pipelines non piggable inspection assessments
Dimensions
This position is seconded to the NAM/ONEgas West D&R team. The role will also emphasize and encourage integration into NAM/ONEgas agile ways of working (eventual Squad lead opportunities, etc.). This role has multiple interfaces with other discipline engineers, maintenance staff including field personnel and supervisors, project engineers, external stakeholders (e.g., municipalities, waterboards, other cable and pipeline operators etc.), Geomatics, other Shell business units and contractor personnel.
Requirements
The Pipeline Engineer should have BS or higher in Engineering with 10+ years of professional experience in the pipeline industry and is expected to possess the following:
• Knowledge of pipeline operations, integrity assessment, degradation, data analysis and integration, and repairs.
• Experience in selecting appropriate pipeline cleaning and abandonment technologies.
• Experience in pipeline cathodic protection, coating systems, DCVG surveys, leak detection methodologies and internal corrosion systems.
• Skill in Dutch and UK regulations, codes, and (international) standards applicable to pipelines.
• Successful experience in contributing to projects and modifications.
• Self-motivation and ability to work independently on several issues simultaneously.
• Ability to lead and drive improvement initiatives across cross functional teams including different cultures and geographical areas.
• Strong influencing and communication skills.
• Record of delivering results through others.
• Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills.
• Prior certification as Technical Authority in Pipelines a plus, but not necessarily required.
• Strong skills in relevant software tools such as IMS-PLSS, SAP, MS Excel, PowerBI, MyMaps, conceptual knowledge of vendor raw data viewing software.
